Well here we are with black and white scribble and paint and wash, not to mention cropping. All of my black and white scribbles are done with gesso, and my washes are done with acrylics. The two under (A) are cropped from there and the two under (C) are cropped from that piece as well. I love cropping because you get so many different pieces. I send you these pics because the people that are looking at this totally understand where I am coming from and don't need a lot of explanation, thank God. Oh yeah, colored pieces are done with india ink and acrylics. My tools also include a credit card.
I miss your presence in this class Carissa and I miss you too BJ. Unknown you know that I miss u as well.

Great posting Char...
ReplyDeleteLike your colors over the black. You say that you are using acrylic. What are you making the white marks with? Scratched out and gesso showing through? OR? Maybe you go into more detail on the Sketchbook posting. Will check it out.
I have been unable to post for a while... been very involved with:
1. New to me sewing machine, taking lessons and trying to get up to speed.
2. Getting ready for a trip to FRANCE.. yippee. Will be leaving the 13th.. so feel a bit pressured.
And I have been waiting for my India Ink to arrive from Dick Blick. I worked on the first exercise with watered down acrylic, but really wanted to get involved with the ink. So have just kind of used the above as an excuse. Hope to get more involved in the next few days. I find even an hour here and there helps. But really like to spend the whole day.
Sorry to take up your post with me but don't know how to connect with you otherwise. That is the one thing I would like provided in the class.... a off line way to connect with people that isn't so public.. Oh well will see what Jane says about that.
Keep up the good work. BJ
Hey BJ, France wow how exciting is that going to be. Sounds like you really have been busy, lots going on for sure. This was a tuff lesson (4) to get into because BIGGIE isn't really my thing, but like I said I really enjoyed the cropping. Listen on blogger I posted "email" under contact me. I have no problem with you contacting me that way. Yes I used watered down acrylics on the one piece and yes the gesso does show through, cool huh? I made the scratches with an open paper clip, real hi tech stuff with this gal. Happy sewing!
ReplyDeletetotally cool! I love these Char. The energy in the brush/squeege strokes are wonderful. Are you using the gesso as a resist, then scraping/painting ink over them and then blotting? It is beautiful sister! I wish I had the time for that class right now but maybe next time. carissa
