Color Wheel with found items other than paint

Okay this was way fun.  This is a 12x12.  I explained in class that I had a difficult time  transitioning  into and out of my yellow.  My red orange is not in the right place and I question its color.  Jane's response was that she agreed with me and as long I understood it I got the lesson.  GOT IT!!!!  I am now working on color collage and with post again in a few days..

Sketchbook Practice & Unlocking the Secrets of Color with Jane Davies

Closed grid ( I love this guy )

Open grid ( love this guys too )

The next three are reassembling the grid.  I found this very addictive.  The last one is a way knock off of Jane's.  Sometimes I just needed a little jumping off point and I got it here.

So now we enter the world of UNLOCKING THE SECRETS OF COLOR.  I am one week into this class and feel like I have just found the jewell of art "PAINT."  Of my gosh I can't believe what I have been able to do with 5-6 bottles of paint and we haven't even gotten to white and black yet.  I just love this class and feel like I have finally got a better grip as to why things look the way they do.  When I did the wheel I thought okay the wheel, hold on Johnnie, I was in for a real surprise.  I am happy where i am right now.  IN THE PAINT ;-) In this piece I understand  that I have 2 areas with low contrast but its okay I understand!! How cool it that???

Well here we are with black and white scribble and paint and wash, not to mention cropping.  All of my black and white scribbles are done with gesso, and my washes are done with acrylics.  The two under (A) are cropped from there and the two under (C) are cropped from that piece as well.  I love cropping because you get so many different pieces.  I send you these pics because the people that are looking at this totally understand where I am coming from and don't need a lot of explanation,  thank God.  Oh yeah, colored pieces are done with india ink and acrylics. My tools also include a credit card.
I miss your presence in this class Carissa and I miss you too BJ.  Unknown you know that I miss u as well.

Sketch Book Practice Lines & Circles

India ink, tooth brush and brush strokes.
More lines :)

Let me just say that I could do circles ALL DAY long.  Acrylics, india ink and my favorite, CORKS.

Acrylic and oil pastels.

Claustrophobic.  I wasn't quite claustrophobic enough here but will work on it.

Spare, but not spare.

This Jane Davies is something else.  What an awesome artist and lady.  Her support has helped me beyond belief.

Work'in on wet-in-wet plus line

India ink and pitt pens

Sketchbook Practice with Jane Davies

This was an emotion and I named it fear, although it could represent anger.  Black and red h2o crayons.

My favorite, blind layered contour. Pitt pen, white oil pastel and water color.

This was a trip, blind contour.  Had to laugh at myself, but kind'a fun!

Play'in around with india ink, eye dropper, tooth brush, and brush strokes.
