Just finished a class with Jane Davies on Keys to Dynamic Composition. It was a wonderful class, she is just a terrific teacher. Here are a few of the pieces that I did.
I guess it would be helpful if I explained about these pieces, wouldn't it? The first piece was creating unity and variety with shapes, the second one was abstract landscapes, three, four and five were cruciforms (my favorite lesson) six was creating depth with layering and color and seven was composition sketch. Looking forward to next week with Jane Davies again in The Sketchbook Practice.
Great postings.. think you really nailed the Composition class. Looking forward to the Sketchbook class next week and connecting with you there. Sounds like you appreciate Orcas as much as I do... how did you ever find it from Texas????? BJ
Thanks you two for check'in out this little spot. I just got back today from a week long trip to California. I went to see my youngest son and some family. Great trip but I am exhausted, mov'in all the time. Well BJ I have only lived in Texas for 4 years, I was born and raised in California. I have a cousin in Everett, Washington and my oldest son went to college in Seattle. So you see now the connection. I envy where you live. Carissa you have to go someday if you have never been, you won't want to go home. I don't know about nailing the composition, but I sure learned a lot and am looking forward to getting started on sketchbook.
Char.. Thanks for clarifying the Orcas/Texas connection. I am always curious how people know about this tiny little piece of paradise...... Carrissa FYI.. Orcas is an island in the Pacific Northwest. It is part of the San Juan Islands and is a beautiful place to visit and LIVE.
